Day 458 – Finally Back To Decent Weight Loss Overnight

Day 458

Yesterday, I was able to lose .2 kg after the horrid weight gain of .6 kg the day before. While that bad day was kind of expected, the severity of it was not so expected. I continue to have to work what seems to be way too hard to maintain. And while I am pretty much maintaining my weight so far in the current 100-day test, it is only because I go out there in the cold and keep on running for 90 minutes pretty much every day for a while now. In the sense that I am maintaining my weight (only .1 kg over after today), this is a successful period. What is not very successful is that I am barely able to cut down on 90-minute running sessions. The results are there, but it’s due to extremely hard work. The hope to get these running times below 90 minutes remains a struggle.

Today, I was able to drop an additional .1 kg to get down to 76.9 kg. That is only .1 kg above the starting mark of the 100-day test. Being only .1 over is enough to call it basically breakeven. That’s why I do feel good about maintaining weight but only feel bad about having to work so hard to do it. Also, I am about 4 pounds above my target of 75.0. But I do not consider this a failure in weight maintenance. The issue there is that it’s just too hard to maintain at 75.0. So I simply can’t stay at exactly that weight all the time. That’s a tough goal to meet, and I am happy being close to it.

Today, my max weight increase before sleeping was about 1.6 or 1.7 kg. I went to the bathroom and was 1.6 over, or 78.6 kg, at bedtime. It might have been 78.7 before using the bathroom but was probably not more than that.

At 5:30 in the afternoon, my weight was still at only 78.1. That is a brilliant start, but I definitely needed a bit more to eat. At this point, the idea is usually to eat a couple more small meals. That is usually enough to stay well below the 2.0 kg Danger Zone but without starving to do it. So I was pretty successful at keeping the meals small at getting up to only about 78.7, which is .3 kg below the 2.0 kg Danger Zone.

Finally, I lost a reasonable amount of weight overnight. I dropped to 77.8, which was a loss of about .8 kg. Lately, I have been hurt badly by dropping as little as .4 overnight. It is awfully hard to maintain weight when you don’t lose more than that overnight. Today shows how important it is. What happened after that? I had poor results on the run, only losing .9 kg. Yet, the reasonable weight loss overnight allowed me to lose .1 kg overall despite a run result that was not very good. It was very windy when running this morning, and that slowed me down frequently and possibly negatively affected the results.

Day 458 is December 22, 2017. So I have one more run tomorrow morning before the December 24 and December 25 cheat days. In this case, I am okay with having 2 cheat days in a row. But I’ll try not to go totally crazy on either day since this is a double-up cheating situation. I already know I will be gaining weight, but that’s okay for the holidays. Have to live some, too.
