Still Going With 4 Days of Weight Loss After Christmas

Day 102

Starting Weight: 76.6 kg
Ending Weight: 76.3 kg

This is now the 4th day of my recovery period from Christmas, where I gained a ridiculous amount of weight. I rose to about 78.8 kg from a start of a little more than 75 due to Christmas Eve and Christmas gorging. But over the last 3 days, I lost about half of it back, getting down to 76.6. And I have today, tomorrow, and a daytime run on New Year’s Eve before the next and final holiday party for me. It looks like I have hope of getting down to the 75 range by then. I don’t mean it’s possible to reach 75.0 without starving, which is not something I ever really do. But the goal is to at least get under 76.0 before that party.

My weight at the beginning of the run was 77.6 kg. I did not lose as much today as I did yesterday. Instead, I lost only 1.0 kg, going down to 76.6 kg. And I ran even earlier than yesterday. However, I was 77.0 after yesterday’s run and going to the bathroom right after that. Thus, I am .4 kg ahead of yesterday’s pace so far, keeping in mind that I did finish the run at an earlier time.

For the rest of the day, the plan is to not eat too much. I’d say about .4 kg of food is a good amount, but not more than .5 kg. I am not going to actually weigh the food. The idea is to just estimate it. But hardcore tracking, such as actually weighing food, is certainly not a bad idea for someone who likes that sort of thing. It gives the best control over your weight loss or maintenance.

I rose to 77.1 kg and then had a 3-hour nap. During that time, I dropped back down to 76.6 kg. That was an excellent swing back down. I was still hungry and had a little bit of food, including some meatballs, one small piece of bread, and an apple. That put me at 77.0 kg. It’s an excellent weight for likely losing weight by the time of my weigh-in in the morning.

While it’s not easy to lose weight 4 days in a row, it seems like I am about to do that. We’ll see if I can lose 5 days in a row tomorrow. However, because of the party on the 31st, there will be no way for me to go for 6 days in a row because I will gain all the weight from the party. The next morning’s weigh-in (January 1) will definitely show a big weight gain.

3 Days Of Weight Loss In a Row After Christmas

Day 101

Starting Weight: 76.9 kg
Ending Weight: 76.6 kg

So far, there are a lot of crazy swings today. After starting at 76.9 kg, I ate more than usual and had an unexpectedly high weight gain to 78.6 kg. That is a full 1.7 kg and far more than usual. Maybe I ate more than usual, but there could be other factors at play. For example, I had such a great weight loss the past 2 days that my body may be trying to retain some weight as kind of countermeasure. I’m just guessing on that. But that kind of correction was common in my weight tracking during Pentamize full weight-loss mode.

As bad as the day started, I lost a lot of weight during my 90-minute run. I dropped back down to 77.1 kg, which was a solid loss of 1.5 kg. That was about average even during the summer. And I immediately went to the bathroom and dropped a smidgen more to 77.0 kg.

Still, at this point during the day, it was only 5:30 in the evening. So the goal was to have only one more meal and to keep it pretty small. I also will need some water but should largely avoid juice. The juice that I drank earlier probably contributed to the weight gain.

I had to sacrifice pretty hard the rest of the day. After eating a croissant (not a good food choice, but focusing on the amount of food more than the type), some grapes, and a little bit of some other stuff, I cut myself off from eating the rest of the day. After that last meal, I was at about 77.7 kg. This already put me in some jeopardy of gaining a little weight on the day. But there was still a chance to lose a little.

Actually, I ended up losing .3 kg, which was not expected. My weight dropped to 76.6 kg by morning. So that is now 3 days in a row of losing a substantial amount of weight during this post-Christmas recovery period. Based on my tracking record, it’s hard to lose weight 4 days in a row. But since I am in a natural recovery from gross overeating over Christmas, I think it will be possible to lose weight yet again on Day 102 and make it 4 days in a row.

Huge Weight Loss Of 1.3 KG On One Post-Christmas Recovery Day

Starting Weight: 78.2 kg
Final Weight: 76.9 kg

I am now on Day 100 of this Pentamize weight maintenance blog. Since my starting weight at the very beginning was 75.0 kg, I am a little over. However, that needs to be put into perspective. I am in a recovery period after Christmas, where I cheated big time. So I am not really feeling bad about being a little over the starting mark. I am still maintaining within a reasonable range and in the process of getting back to the 75 kg range.

Since I will be running every day up to and including December 31, it was a good day to have a good workout, but without pushing it for 2 hours. There is time to lose weight without killing myself here. So I decided to run 90 minutes. I had solid results this time, losing about 1.3 kg. My weight dropped from about 78.2 to 76.9 kg. This 1.3 kg is still less than the approximate 1.5 during my full weight-loss mode. But that was mostly during the summer, where it appears that I was losing more due to a higher amount of perspiration. So that number was good.

The rest of the day worked out to be one of the best I have ever had. I did rise back up to about 78.1 after the run. However, this should be put into context. I had my second and last meal of the day after running in the evening. While my meals were somewhat bigger than usual, it was still only 2 meals.

Next, I ended sleeping a very long time – something like 11 hours. And my weight plummeted back down to 76.9 kg by morning.

Does sleeping help you lose weight? I imagine it is helpful. However, a huge drop of 1.3 kg on the day and about 1.2 kg while sleeping is so much higher than usual that I think other factors played a role. That is a huge drop. I did notice that I urinated a large amount during my sleep time (got up, went to the bathroom, and went back to bed). As to why I did this, that is not clear. But it appears to have been a factor in the large weight drop. More sleep than usual may have enhanced that result. However, I doubt that was the only factor and possibly was not even the major factor.

Over the past 2 days, I have dropped 1.9 kg, which is about 4 pounds. Just off the top of my head, that might be the best overall result over 2 days that I have ever tracked. Mind you that I am doing what athletes do with the extreme weight cutting. This is just my normal routine, with a decent diet and long jogging sessions. So 4 pounds over 2 days is a huge drop in this situation. I suspect that this is a readjustment period from the excessive overeating on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Sometimes, I notice a large weight loss over a short period of time after a cheat day. And in this case, there were 2 cheat days in a row. At any rate, I don’t worry too much when I lose weight except to keep doing the same thing.

The time to worry is when you gain weight. And the answer to that is usually pretty clear – too much overeating, not enough exercise, or both. It’s really pretty simple when you look at the Big Picture. What is sometimes difficult to do is to map out a plan to avoid these problems. My Pentamize Weight Loss System ebook can show you how I did it. You can purchase it from the home page.

Lost .6 KG Of Weight On First Recovery Day After Christmas

Day 99

My starting weight on this first recovery day after Christmas was 78.8 kg. My final weight was 78.2 kg. That is a loss of .6 kg, which is a big number. So this is a good beginning to this recovery period.

I did a 2-hour run to try to get a good start on this recovery period. It was cold and windy and raining some, too. My heart rate was about 120 at the end. The weight lost during this 2-hour jog was less than expected. I dropped only 1.1 kg, going down to 77.8 kg. However, I went to the bathroom right after that and dropped down to 77.6.

Before the 3 p.m. run, I ate only a small amount and was 78.9 at the start of the run. That is a very good start, and this is probably because I ate mostly meat. One thing I discovered in Pentamize full weight-loss mode is that I can eat quite a bit of meat and not gain much weight. However, this doesn’t mean eating a pound of beef every day, which is probably too much for most people. But half a pound or so was good for me, and I lost almost 70 pounds. I am not recommending red meat or any other food. You can go to a nutritionist if you want specific advice for that. My point is that I do eat quite a bit of meat, and a lot of it is red meat. And I lost a whole bunch of weight doing it. To get more Pentamize diet tips, purchase my book from the home page. I also tell you everything else that I ate on a regular basis and how I changed my diet to lose weight.

The rest of the day, I will need to exercise decent diet discipline to lose weight on this first recovery day after the big cheat days on Christmas Eve and Christmas. There are still temptations in the house and a little too much food left over. But I will have to control myself if I am going to lose weight today.

To be honest, I ended up cheating a little by eating some chips and drinking about 6 ounces of coke. Nonetheless, it was only a little cheating. And I still ended up losing .6 kg today. It would be smart to cut out the cheating on Day 99 to keep this recovery going well.

Another Large Weight Gain On Christmas Day

Day 98

Starting Weight: 77.4 kg
Ending Weight: 78.8 kg

After the party on Christmas Eve, I rose to 77.4 kg. This would have been much worse, but I prevented some weight gain by doing a 2-hour run. Today is Christmas Day and Day 98 of my Pentamize maintenance mode.

I think it’s best to actually cheat on holidays like this because it’s the realistic thing for most people. Only an addicted health nut (not that there’s anything wrong with that) is going to refuse to enjoy Christmas. And while I am highly committed to maintaining a decent weight, that does not mean never enjoying a Christmas meal or eating whatever I want on occasional special days.

Day 97 and 98 (the Christmas cheat days) are most definitely putting me well above my maintenance-phase starting weight of 75.0 kg. So the only thing I can do is get back to my regular reasonable eating habits and continuing to exercise on a regular basis. I don’t mind this so much because it does motivate me to get back in the saddle and lose some weight.

I was actually over 80 kg at the max on this major cheat day. So I dropped more than a kilogram for the weigh-in in the morning. While weight goes up dramatically when you pig out, it does tend to drop faster at times. So I did have a big drop overnight. Nonetheless, there is a huge amount of damage here that needs to be corrected.

Starting on December 26, it’s time for another major recovery period. I will be working out every day up to and including December 31. Then, I will be at a New Year’s Eve party. This will naturally cause me to gain weight again. So it will be important to stay active up to that point to avoid something totally crazy, like ballooning to 82 kg or something like that. And that will be a possibility if I don’t work to lose the weight I just gained over Christmas.

Overall, I gained 1.4 kg on Christmas Day. Christmas Eve was also an increase of 1.4 kg. So this was an ugly increase in 2 days of 2.8 kg, which is 6.2 pounds. Yep. It was that bad, and my metabolism is that bad. That’s why I have to work out on almost a daily basis. It’s the only way I can maintain my weight. Now, I am about 9 to 10 pounds over my starting maintenance weight of 75.0 kg. So I am really back to what may as well be full weight-loss mode until December 31.
